Great Ways to Get Families Talking about Sex
Feelings about sex are often formed by the time children reach puberty.
The way families discuss, or ignore, the subject of sex influences children’s
values, attitudes, and behaviors. Learn and experience how families can use daily
chores, errands, newspapers, and leisure activities to initiate and promote ongoing
communication about sexuality.
Conference runs 8:30 to 3 p.m., Holiday Inn, Somerset NJ.
For more information on the conference, see the
conference flyer.
To register, call The Center for Family Life Education, (973) 539-9580, ext. 120.

Exploring the Breadth and Depth of Sexuality
Sex Week introduces myriad concepts that may seem disconnected...until this workshop
puts everything into perspective. You’ll become aware of the interconnectedness
of sexual health & reproduction, sensuality, intimacy, sexual identity,
and sexualization. You will learn how to differentiate among biological sex,
gender identity, gender expression, gender role, and sexual orientation.
In the process, you will become more comfortable discussing sexual health issues.
This Will Only Hurt a Little: Taking the Pain out of Sexual Health Talk
Decades of research shows that patients want and need doctors to discuss sexual health,
yet most doctors avoid doing so because they are uncomfortable, they lack training,
or they fear embarrassing patients. Fortunately, talking about sex can be near-painless
with practice. This interactive workshop will increase your comfort with the language
of sexual health and sexuality — including some terminology patients may use
that you won’t find in your medical dictionary.
Open to RWJMS/UMDNJ students only.
